Impeachment inquiry
Rebecca Deen, UTA department chair of political science, spoke about the ongoing presidential impeachment proceedings on KDFW Fox 4. Deen said Gordon Sondland’s upcoming testimony will be the most interesting because he changed his story leading up to his testimony date. Sondland is the U.S. ambassador to the European Union.
UTA FabLab
Katie Musick Peery, director of the UTA Libraries’ FabLab, and Emma Yang, a UTA assistant professor in the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering, were interviewed on the Arlington Citizen Media podcast about FabLab projects and Yang’s research on recycling 3D-printing materials from the FabLab.
Dental care costs
Deepak Datta, the Eunice and James L. West Chair of Private Enterprise and Entrepreneurship and a UTA management professor, said dental care is much less expensive in Mexico for many reasons in a story in The U.S. Posts about medical trips many in the United States take to other countries for cheaper heath care. Datta also is CEO of Dallas-based Medical Tourism Co., an agency that connects its mainly American customers to treatments in countries such as Mexico, Costa Rica, Thailand and India.
Award-winning staffer
Elizabeth Couch, UTA assistant director of media relations, was named one of four North Texas recipients of the Mujer Legendaria de Ford award, El Comunicador de Dallas and Hoy Dallas reported. Mujeres Legendarias, or legendary women, is a national program by Ford honoring Hispanic women who improve their communities and are leaders in education, business, volunteerism and art.
