Choosing venues

Rebecca Deen, UTA chair of political science, was interviewed by Texas Public Radio about how officials choose venues for primary elections. For those officials, picking the right size of venue is tricky. Deen said there’s some indication that this year's primaries may draw bigger crowds than usual — but who knows. “In some ways it's a guessing game on how many voters they think are going to come to the polls based on previous elections of those kinds, and then they make a determination,” she said.

Changing relationship

Allan Saxe, UTA associate professor of political science, was featured on KTRH 740 AM in Houston discussing the changing relationship between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. “They may not love each other, but they need each other. President Trump needs Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz needs President Trump,” Saxe explained.

"There are institutions that foster research and other institutions that have a display component, but you'd have to go to either the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. or the University of Texas at Arlington to see a true cartographic center that does all of those things in the same institution," said Rodney Kite-Powell, Touchton Map Library and Florida Center for Cartographic Education Director.
