Pre-Law Center receives grant from Texas Bar Foundation
The University of Texas at Arlington’s Pre-Law Center received a $30,000 grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to support experiential learning activities and encourage scholars to consider a law career.
The gift continues the foundation’s investment in the center’s Courting Success in Law program, including supporting Pre-Law Day, a trial advocacy bootcamp and summer internships. The gift will also expand the program to include funding opportunities for students to visit Texas law schools.
“We’re so grateful for the Texas Bar Foundation’s continued partnership and generous support,” said Amber White, director of the Pre-Law Center. “The Courting Success in Law project creates invaluable opportunities for our students to learn how to turn their law career aspirations into reality.”
White said the expansion of the program allows the center to secure a law student mentor and take students directly to law schools.
“Students can truly envision themselves in the legal career of their dreams and start down a pathway of success,” she said. “The possibilities for these students are endless!”
Officially established in 2012, UTA’s pre-law program provides important services to students, including advising; mentorship programs with legal professionals at AT&T, Haynes & Boone LLP, and other firms; internships and service-learning experiences with area attorneys and judges; moot court and mock trial competition training; and more.
Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $27 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation's largest charitably funded bar foundation.
