Whataburger sponsors UTA eclipse celebration
The University of Texas at Arlington has entered a multifaceted agreement with Whataburger, creating a relationship between two iconic Texas brands.
“This is the start of a great relationship between two premier Texas institutions: one academic and one delicious,” said Josh Feldman, general manager of Maverick Sports Properties.
As part of the agreement, Whataburger is sponsoring the University’s “Solar-bration” event on April 8, where thousands of both UTA and Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex community members will gather for the once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse.
“DFW hasn’t seen a total solar eclipse since 1878, and it won’t see another for quite some time,” said George Gonzalez, Whataburger brand leader. “Whataburger is proud to support the educational celebration of this historic event and share it with a wider audience.”
Whataburger will have an ongoing presence around UTA Athletics and the UTA Planetarium. So far, the chain has already been present at sporting events, including Fraternity and Sorority Life Nights with UTA Basketball, with games and logo placements.
For the day of the eclipse, thousands of Whataburger-branded solar eclipse glasses will be made available. Attendees will also have a chance to receive a Whataburger coupon and play the famous fry toss game.
UTA will be a premier destination to watch the total eclipse with four primary viewing locations: Brazos Park, University Center Mall, Planetarium Mall, and the Library Mall. The University will also host several events leading up to the big show.
