The University of Texas at Arlington’s College of Business will gather prominent economic leaders for a symposium to discuss the future of real estate in North Texas on Wednesday, March 20, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During "DFW Real Estate—The Next Decade," experts from the region will examine area housing market trends. Home prices, for example, have doubled from a median listing price of $170,000 in 2012 to approximately $425,000 in 2022.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear insights from key economic leaders in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, including:

  • Jeff Cheney, mayor, city of Frisco
  • Kelle Marsalis, president & CEO, Plano Chamber of Commerce
  • Doug McDonald, director of economic development, city of Plano
  • Steve Montgomery, president & CEO, Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce
  • Mike Rosa, senior vice president of economic development, Dallas Regional Chamber

Additionally, Sam Suzuki, CEO of SIRE 3D and Sperry RE Capital, will speak about innovative approaches to construction, including the role of 3D printing in commercial real estate.

Sriram Villupuram, associate professor in the Department of Finance and Real Estate and the director of the Ryan-Reilly Center for Urban Land Utilization in the College of Business, will provide valuable insights into how real estate has shaped the North Texas economy.

“Over the last decade, companies large and small have organically moved all or part of their organizations to the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area,” Villupuram said. “The attractiveness of the Metroplex includes affordable real estate and a well-educated workforce provided by several public and private universities. Given that DFW real estate is losing its position as the most affordable in the country, how will we attract companies and jobs to the area over the next decade?”
