The State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) has recognized The University of Texas at Arlington’s Educator Preparation Program with a commendation for its innovative approaches to educating the state’s future teachers.

“We are very proud UTA’s Educator Preparation Program is being recognized by the SBEC,” said Casey Graham-Brown, interim dean of the College of Education. “We take great pride in being acknowledged as a top Texas program for preparing future educators. We are honored to receive this commendation recognizing our program as a quality teaching program for future teachers.”

The SBEC recognizes high-performing educator preparation programs in four categories: Rigorous and Robust Preparation, Preparing the Educators Texas Needs, Preparing Educators for Long-Term Success and Innovative Educator Preparation. UT Arlington was recognized for Preparing the Educators Texas Needs and commended for recruiting, preparing and supporting certification of teachers in mathematics as well as English, language arts and reading.

“The proper preparation of our future educators is imperative for success in the classroom,” Graham-Brown said. “I want to thank our faculty for their continued commitment to innovating our programs and giving our students quality preparation for great success in their careers.”
