Nagy appointed Vice President for Student Affairs
As the result of a comprehensive national search, The University of Texas at Arlington is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Nagy as Vice President for Student Affairs. Nagy is currently senior associate vice president of student affairs and has served as the division’s interim vice president since the spring of 2017.
In announcing the appointment, UTA President Vistasp Karbhari said, “Lisa has already served UTA with distinction and, as the interim vice president, has moved the student affairs division and the university forward tremendously both in setting and achieving strategic goals and adding to the growing sense of pride and tradition on the UTA campus. She is an experienced leader, innovator, and champion of student success. Her enthusiasm and commitment to serving Mavericks will help us reach new heights of excellence.”
Nagy is a graduate of Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree from the college of education and earned her master’s degree in education at The Ohio State University. She joined UTA in 1999 as assistant director of marketing and public relations for campus recreation and assumed progressively more responsible positions in student affairs.

It’s an exciting time to be part of leadership at UTA and I am thrilled with the appointment.”
Among her accomplishments at UTA are revamping major university events such as welcome week, convocation, homecoming, and commencement, which resulted in enhanced attendance and student engagement. She led the expansion of what is now the Lockheed Martin Career Development Center at UTA, which has reimagined the student experience by connecting with students early in their college careers to provide mentoring, internships and other services to better prepare them for post-university employment. Her focus on enhancing student life and the university’s role in holistic education led to the creation of the Emergency Assistance Fund which helps students in crisis with urgent financial needs; co-creation of the Freshman Year Experience course, MAVS1000, to acclimate in particular first generation college students to university life; and supervision of the formation and launch of the Community That Cares Task Force and subsequent campaign to strengthen a culture of caring and support for students on the UTA campus.
UTA CFO and Vice President Kelly Davis, chair of the search committee, said, “I am very pleased that Ms. Nagy will be our next Vice President for Student Affairs. Nagy is past-president of the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators, previously served on the National Conference Committee of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and is a former member of the Junior League of Arlington.
