The University of Texas at Arlington houses a few underground storage tanks and above ground storage tanks. They contain a variety of materials including diesel, gasoline and used oil. Because of the large volume of these tanks, the potential for an environmental mishap is significant.
BMP
- Conduct monthly visual inspections of all storage tanks per the UT Arlington Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan (SPCC).
- Inspect all tank shells, piping, flanges, valves and pumps for failures or leaks.
- Report any deficiencies immediately to necessary personnel.
- Supply, maintain and inspect spill control drums.
