Admitted International Graduate Student Next Steps

  1. Accept Admission

    Let us know you’re coming to UTA by accepting your admission. To accept your admission log into your MyMav student portal. Click the Admissions tile and select “Application Status”, then choose “Accept”.

  2. Complete Immigration Documents

    You will need to complete the Graduate Financial Statement form for the issuance of your I-20. If you are currently in the U.S. attending a U.S. school, you will also need to complete a School Transfer Notification for F-1 Visa Holders. The issuance of your new I-20 will be sent to your UTA email address.

  3. Secure Housing

    Students that live on campus are more engaged and tend to perform better in their classes. The housing application is free to complete, and housing is contracted on first-come, first-serve based on openings. The earlier you apply, the better your chances of securing your housing preferences!

  4. Complete the Registration Agreement

    The Registration Agreement must be signed before you are able to enroll in classes. The hold will generally appear in your MyMav student portal two weeks prior to registration opening for your intended semester. Once you have logged into MyMav, your Registration agreement will appear on your Homepage To-Do list.

  5. Complete the Office of International Education Pre-Orientation Course & Review the New Student Information Webpage

    You will need to complete the Office of International Education’s (OIE) Pre-Orientation course in Canvas and earn a 10/10 on the final course quiz. Completing this pre-orientation course can be done before you arrive in the U.S. and will remove your INT Registration hold in MyMav.

  6. Schedule an Appointment with Your Graduate Advisor

    Schedule an appointment with the graduate advisor in your academic department to go over your degree plan.

  7. Register for Classes

    Once you’ve been advised by your graduate advisor, you are able to register for classes in your MyMav student portal.

  8. Register for New Maverick Orientation

    Attending New Maverick Orientation is required for all incoming graduate students. Prior to attending orientation, you will need to complete your pre-orientation modules and attend an academic advising session.

  9. Submit Meningitis & Tuberculosis Screening Documentation

    All students under the age of 22 are required to be immunized against bacterial meningitis before they enroll at UTA. You can submit your documents to Admissions, Records, and Registration. Proof of vaccination must be submitted at least 10 days prior to the official first day of classes.

    All incoming international students who are new to UTA are required to complete TB screening prior to attending classes on campus. Health Services accepts both T-Spot and Quantiferon Gold blood tests completed in the United States within the last 12 months. Mantoux/PPD/Tuberculin (TB) skin test results are not accepted.

  10. Show Proof of Health Insurance

    The University of Texas Board of Regents has passed Regents Rule 50402, which now requires only F1, F2, J1, J2 students, who are currently enrolled at UT Schools to have medical insurance compliant with the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). The UT- Student Health Insurance Plan (UT-SHIP) meets these requirements, and enrollment is automatic. Or you can show proof of a private insurance plan to be unenrolled from UT- SHIP.

  11. Submit Official Transcripts

    Don't forget to submit your official transcripts. The fastest method is electronically--sent directly from your school. If you are asked for an email address, use utagradadmissions@uta.edu. However, we will accept transcripts by mail or in person. Official transcripts must be submitted by the end of your first semester of enrollment.
