The Celebration of Life is open to the public and will be held in the Rosebud Theatre of the University Center on the UTA campus.  Campus map and parking below.

Dr. Saxe taught political science at the University of Texas at Arlington for 54 years, retiring in 2019 and honored as Emeritus Associate Professor of Political Science in 2021. Former students remember him fondly as kind, funny, passionate, with a heart of gold.  He was able to connect with students in his political science classes in a way that made lasting impressions on them.

Former Department Chair and current Senior Associate Dean, Rebecca Deen remembers Allan as being so popular she had to organize the class schedule around him.  “I called it the ‘Allan’ effect.  If I tried to put other classes at the same time as he was teaching, they just wouldn’t make because everyone wanted to take the class from Dr. Saxe!”

‘Engaging professor’ describes his teaching style and reflects his outlook on life. He wasn’t just a generous philanthropist, he worked to give away as much as he possibly could to organizations that helped members of the Arlington and surrounding communities.  Saxe was a founder of the Arlington Life Shelter and a generous benefactor of Mission Arlington, the River Legacy Foundation, Theatre Arlington, Levitt Pavilion Arlington, the Humane Society of North Texas, the Fort Worth Zoo, the Tarrant County College Foundation, in addition to local hospitals, churches and universities.

Dr. Saxe received numerous awards over the course of his career, including the UT System Regents Teaching Award, Hero to the Homeless Award, the Greater Fort Worth Philanthropy Award, State of Texas Humanitarian Award and Meals on Wheels Volunteer of the Year.
