Lin Larson has recruited international students to U.S. universities for more than 20 years.

On July 9 Larson, the College of Engineering’s Director of Recruitment, received the Peter Hauet Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association for College Admission Counseling to honor her body of work.

“International ACAC has given me so many opportunities to learn from the best worldwide. It has helped nourish friendships globally and locally. It has helped me grow into the role I currently have and those that came before. To be honored by this organization is truly humbling and I am so appreciative of my peers who nominated me. It is the highest honor for sure – and I was so taken by surprise,” Larson said.

The Peter Hauet Lifetime Achievement Award represents International ACAC's highest member tribute and is presented to an individual who, over a period of years, has performed outstanding service to International ACAC, the profession, and the international college counseling community.

Larson has been at UTA since 2017. In her time at the University, Larson has expanded international recruiting to the Middle East, South America, and multiple countries in South and Southeast Asia. In Fall 2024, engineering students came from 69 countries.

“Since her arrival at UTA, Lin has made incredible strides in expanding our international recruiting. To be recognized by her peers for her tireless work over the course of her career says a lot about her, both professionally and personally,” said Engineering Dean Peter Crouch.

Prior to her arrival in Arlington, she worked for the University of California at Berkeley, St. Mary’s College of California and Northern Arizona University.

Larson has served International ACAC in many volunteer roles, including several volunteer committees, service as a Pre-Conference institute faculty, and conference presenter. The award presenter noted that she is a “first friend” for many young professionals in her field, especially those who are traveling internationally for student recruitment for the first time.
