What is your program?
Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) in Art Education with Teacher Certification for grades K-12 (all-level certification).
What do you love most about UTA?
What I love most about UTA is the sense of community; there are never any strangers in your classes! Also, the many opportunities to join organizations. I was able to join the Faculty DEI Art & Art History Committee and the Art Educators Association, both of which benefitted me greatly and were a lot of fun!
What do you love most about the art education program?
The projects and assignments, it was very fulfilling to finally start creating lessons, doing demonstrations, and working with Middle School Students at the Kimbell Museum.
Do you have any favorite education professors?
Dr. Lucy Bartholomee, I luckily was able to work with her in the DEI committee.
You were one of many students who attended Education Career Day! Did you find the event to be helpful?
I loved the event; it was great to be exposed to my first job fair in a familiar environment with familiar encouraging professors.
Do you have a job lined up for after graduation? Have you taken/passed your certification exams?
I have had a couple offers and multiple interviews, but I have yet to commit to one school. Now that I have completed all my observations and close to finishing my second placement, I am now planning on taking my certification exams.
Any words of wisdom for others considering a degree in art education?
Get involved and be friendly to everyone. There are a lot of group projects in this program, and you will eventually work with everyone in your class!
