STEM-E(RC)2 Speaker Series with Dr. Kristy Daniel
The College of Education STEM Education Research Collaboratorium and Resource Center invited Dr. Kristy Daniel to their STEM-E(RC)2 speaker series. Daniel is an associate professor from the Department of Biology at Texas State University. Daniel's diverse background was reflected in the courses she teaches. It includes Communicating Science, Professional Development in Biology Education, and Plant Taxonomy.
During this session, Daniel's topic was Building the Next Generation of Biologists by Increasing Representation. With many of the College of Education faculty members attending the discussion, Daniel talked about the biology education research program through three lenses. Representing data, scientists, and self washer main talking point.
Throughout the presentation, Daniel expressed how to build and support the next generation of biologists. Toward the end of the session, faculty members asked her questions and gained more information on her research. They were able to converse amongst themselves about how they could advance their students. The session was great for those who attended. The College of Education looks forward to future STEM-E(RC)2 speaker series.
