The University of Texas at Arlington College of Nursing and Health Innovation (CONHI) has been providing nursing continuing educational activities for faculty and other stakeholders since October 2017, and most recently received reaccreditation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

This credential certifies CONHI as an accredited provider of nursing professional development activities, which allows registered nurses to earn nursing contact hours toward fulfillment of renewal requirements for relicensure specified by their state boards of nursing.

“It is extremely valuable to be an accredited provider, both for our faculty who can take advantage of the many continuing education opportunities we offer, and our alumni and other nurses who have 24/7 access to our free programs as well which we plan to add more of throughout the year,” shared Becky Baird, clinical assistant professor and director of faculty development.

CONHI offers an array of free continuing education activities available to alumni, preceptors and other stakeholders available on our website that will go toward fulfilling their required hours.

The College also provides high-quality online live activities for faculty as well, focused on topics in academia.

“It is critical that our faculty are offered these educational opportunities, as it has a positive impact on nursing practice and patient outcomes, and improves our nursing education for our students, as they are the direct beneficiaries of our continuing education activities. Upon graduation and licensure, students can look to us to be a provider of continuing nursing education to fulfill their professional development needs,” said Baird.

The College’s next offering available to all nurses will be held on April 2 during its virtual 2nd Annual Nursing Excellence in the care of the Older Adult conference. Nurses working with the older adult in hospitals, long term care settings or in the community will learn relevant and timely information about providing excellent care for this special population. Contact hours will be awarded for nurses who successfully complete each session. Registration for the event is free and currently open.

According to its website, the ANCC Accreditation Program identifies organizations worldwide that demonstrate excellence in Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD). Accredited organizations use evidence-based ANCC criteria to plan, implement and evaluate the highest quality NCPD activities.
