UTA Libraries is the only repository in the state focused on collecting Texas disability history materials. The Texas Disability History Collection, funded through a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), features documents, videos, images, and oral histories on the work of various disability advocates who were students, faculty, or staff at UTA. It also reaches beyond the University to include local, regional, state, and national artifacts. The IMLS grant focused on developing website accessibility. In addition to accessible coding techniques and visual design, all documents are scanned with optical character recognition software, videos include synchronized subtitles, and text transcripts are available for audio files.
