Student Alumni Association News
- The
Student Alumni Association is looking for UT Arlington alumni interested in
being mentors to current students. Mentorship details will be determined by
each mentor and student and may include e-mail, mail, phone and face-to-face
contact.
- The SAA held its annual tuition raffle
during Parents Weekend in October. Kevin Conroy, a freshman business major, won
the raffle and received 12 hours of undergraduate, in-state tuition, excluding
fees, for the spring 2008 semester.
- A record 103 teams participated in the
18th annual Oozeball Mud Volleyball Tournament in September on Greek Row. The
SAA and Campus Recreation co-sponsored the event, which raised $6,600 for
scholarships.
- The SAA hosted
Founders Day in October to celebrate UT Arlington's 112-year history. More than
300 students signed a card that was presented to President James D. Spaniolo.
- The SAA recently hosted the
Mavericks Gone Wild tailgate party, which promoted the UT Arlington vs. Stephen
F. Austin men's basketball game. Another new program, A Walk to Remember,
invites alumni for a reception in the University Club followed by a campus
tour. The Feb. 16 event is part of Homecoming 2008.
