ALUM NEWS
In the boardroom
Hank Jacobs ('82 BS) Major: biology Hometown: born in Dallas Residence: Arlington, since 1969 Family: wife Maryann, son Ryan and daughters Ashley and Erin Occupation: General dentist in private practice in Arlington four days a week; teaches one day a week as an assistant professor in the Department of Oral Diagnosis at the Baylor College of Dentistry. UTA student involvement: Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, Alpha Chi Omega big brother, Student Activities Board, Student Congress and elected Mr. UTA for 1980-81. Favorite professor: I had many, but I would have to say Dr. Bernie Frye and Dr. George Stewart. Dr. Stewart taught parasitology, which was one of the toughest classes I had but did the most for preparing me for the curriculum in dental school. Fondest memory of UTA: The friendships I made at UTA, many of which I still enjoy today. Also, I have fond memories of getting a very good education. Hobbies: Sports and my kids. And my kids are usually the reason for all the sports that I’m involved in. All three of my children participate in indoor and outdoor soccer. In addition, one plays baseball and basketball. Also, I have been the team dentist for Lamar High School since 1987, which keeps me busy during much of the school year. Why be involved: I had the privilege of being on scholarship the whole time I was at UTA, and I think if you take something, you should be willing to give something back.
