Ground was broken in November on the $39.9 million Chemistry and Physics
Building. The 123,000-square-foot, three-story structure will house
instructional and research labs and a 200-seat planetarium, creating a hub for
educational excellence, scientific discovery and economic development. The
building is expected to be completed in December 2005. Hailed as
“the most
sophisticated in the country,” the proposed planetarium will allow virtual trips
through the solar system. Efforts are under way to provide additional funding
