A message from the alumni president
To those of you who are not active in your Alumni Association, I ask: "Why not?" It can't be the Alumni Association dues. After all, it amounts to less than 10 cents a day for the $35 level. It can't be that you've forgotten your experience on campus and the friends and colleagues you met along the way. After all, you still keep in touch with many. It can't be that you've lost your sense of pride in UTA and your desire to see your alma mater continue to provide the highest quality educational experience. After all, your diploma on the wall shows that you are proud and that you value your educational experience at UTA. So, why aren't you active? Chapters and recruiting This past year, the Alumni Association focused on chapter development and student recruitment at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and we will continue to do so this year. As a result of the good work of hard-working, dedicated alumni, we now have two new alumni chapters: Marketing Research and the Young Alumni Group (including graduates from the last 10 years). In addition to our already thriving chapters, we expect to see growth in both academic and geographic chapters this coming year. Each chapter is organized and meets according to the wishes of the chapter members. To experience the networking and camaraderie, contact a local chapter and get involved. In addition to individual chapter activities, the Alumni Association is working with the University and chapters on recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students. What a great way for you to get involved in sharing your experience at UTA with a prospective student! Please take a moment to fill out the propsect referral form and introduce a student to UTA. These are exciting times for UTA. The Alumni Association is only as good as we help make it. I encourage you to help current students achieve the same level of excellence as each of you. Our success depends on your participation. Please join...get involved ...be an active member! Alfred Vidaurri '79, '82
