Put the fit in benefit at remodeled workout facility Swing through the Activities Building around 5 p.m. on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, and there’s Daniel Kauth pumping iron or sweating through his cardio routine. Like clockwork, he’s at it three evenings a week, often with his personal trainer, benefiting ting from the fitness center’s recent renovations. The overhaul included adding cardiovascular machines with cable television. “I don’t have cable at home, so I flip through the channels and get my fix,” said Kauth, a 1984 UTA graduate. "They have the latest equipment, and most is better than what you find in the health clubs. It’s a state-of-the-art facility.” For $150 a year, Alumni Association members can join the fitness center, which features free weights, pin select weight equipment, an indoor track, basketball and racquetball courts, locker/ shower facilities and personal training. A new eatery in the building offers smoothies, salads, sandwiches and more. Even after Alumni Association dues ($45), alumni can still enjoy the amenities offered by local fitness for less than $200 a year. “It’s a very popular benefit among our members right now,” said Tamela Herczeg, executive director of the Alumni Association. “That’s a fraction of the cost you’d pay at most fitness centers.” – MP To sign up visit: www.utaalumni.org |
