Whereas | The University of Texas at Arlington has many international and residential students living in various on and near-campus apartments; and |
Whereas | The University has experienced 14 consecutive semesters of growth; and |
Whereas | Many facilities like the library and the computer center are already open 24 hours several days of the week; and |
Whereas | Because many of them do not have cars, many students walk from various near-campus apartments, crossing busy streets such UTA Blvd and others; and |
Whereas | Students have been injured, and even killed, crossing streets near campus; and |
Whereas | At nights after 10 p.m., walking back home to the off campus apartments around UTA can be dangerous and unsafe. |
Be It Further Resolved That | The Sam Maverick Ride service be extended until at least 3 a.m.; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | The number of Sam Maverick Ride carts running especially in the evening and at night be increased. |
