Whereas UTA has implemented a priority registration policy that grants early access to a select group of students for class registration; and,
Whereas this group currently includes athletes, scholars, and students pursuing an Honors College degree; and,
Whereas these students exemplify the core values of academia and/or represent UTA, serving as essential members of the university community who inspire and motivate others to pursue similar achievements, alongside athletic and academic excellence, student leadership stands as another vital pillar of the UTA community with a similar purpose; and,
Whereas numerous student leaders actively contribute to campus life through their involvement in various leadership positions, and their efforts should also be recognized and rewarded; and,
Whereas incentivizing student leadership positions through priority registration would encourage greater participation in these roles, fostering a more engaged and competitive campus environment that enhances the overall student experience; and,
Whereas each category currently eligible for priority registration has specific requirements that must be met before students are granted this privilege—for instance, the Honors College mandates that students earn three registration rewards to qualify—ensuring that only deserving students receive this benefit and that the number of eligible students remains manageable; and,
Be It Further Resolved That UTA should extend its early registration policy to include student leaders on campus, such as members of the Student Government, Excel Campus Activities, UTA Ambassadors, and College Constituency Councils. A limited number of priority registration slots should be allocated to each entity to prevent an overflow of applicants; and,
Be It Further Resolved That To receive this priority registration you must be recommended by your student organization advisor.
