Remarks
Whereas Approximately 10,000 students reside either on campus or in the vicinity of the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), necessitating reliable transportation services to attend their classes; and,
Whereas UTA currently offers the Mav Mover services, which are thoughtfully divided into various routes to accommodate students living in diverse directions from UTA, thereby facilitating their commute; and,
Whereas the current operational hours of the Mav Mover services are limited, with most routes ceasing at 6 pm, which does not cater to the needs of students with classes extending into the evening; and,
Whereas a significant portion of the student population does not have access to personal vehicles, rendering them heavily reliant on the Mav Mover services for their transportation needs; and,
Whereas alternative transportation options such as Uber and Zipcar impose a financial burden on students due to their high costs; and,
Be It Further Resolved That the University of Texas at Arlington increase the operational hours of all Mav Mover routes to better accommodate the schedules of students attending evening classes; and,
Be It Further Resolved That the operational hours for green route be extended until 11 pm and red route be cancelled and the regular service be extended until 9 pm and the late night escort to go from 9pm to 2 am to ensure students attending classes late in the evening have a reliable means of transportation; and,
Be It Further Resolved That the university of Texas at Arlington expand the Mav mover service to include parks mall as well as Walmart during weekends.
