Remarks | The Student Senate voted majority in favor of 17-08 as the Senate reasoned that having information available to international students, whether at orientation or not, and on the OIE’s website would be overall beneficial to them. |
Whereas | Many domestic students has some form of identification such as a state ID, driver's license, etc; and |
Whereas | Apart from passports, international students have a Mav IDs as identification, which cannot be used as an actual identification card; and |
Whereas | This causes a lot of inconvenience to international students who have to carry their passports everywhere they are required to present identification; and |
Whereas | Even though international students can obtain a state ID, most students do not have sufficient information regarding the processes of obtaining one. |
Be It Further Resolved That | The Office of International Education provide proper information regarding obtaining a state ID on their website. |
Be It Further Resolved That | The Office of International Education look into finding ways to market this information to international students, whether it be at orientation or through other means. |
