Remarks | Amended on 11/29/2016 The committee decided to kill the resolution after finding out during the research that MavExpress has already invested in the updated software and is investing in updating locks that could be connected through the internet. These locks will be installed in phases starting summer of 2017. The new software and new locks will allow UTA to have a system where students can get a temporary access code if they are locked out of buildings. |
Whereas | Students at the University of Texas at Arlington sometimes misplace their ID's and the only way to get into their work spaces is by using their ID; and |
Whereas | If students misplace their IDs on a weekday, they have a chance to get a new one made by MavExpress. However, if they misplace their ID during the weekend, there is no alternative way to access their work spaces; and |
Whereas | Some classes may have weekend exams/clinicals that require UTA identification; and |
Whereas | Students are required to have their UT Arlington student IDs in order to access research labs, architecture studios, art labs, music studios, etc.; and |
Whereas | This leads to students letting their peers inside the work spaces, which poses a safety issue. |
Be It Further Resolved That | An alternative identification system be established to resolve the aforementioned issues during the weekend. |
