Remarks | President Karbhari said student input has already been provided as part of the RFP process for the new food vendor |
Whereas | Currently the University of Texas at Arlington only has one dining hall for students to purchase a meal plan ; and |
Whereas | Many students have chosen to live a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle; and |
Whereas | We are considered one of the most diverse campus populations by U.S. News and World Report leaving us with many students who also abide by a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle from their culture or religious beliefs; and |
Whereas | There is currently not a fully separate grill that prepares only vegan options from students to prevent cross contamination from meat related products in the preparation of the vegan or vegetarian meal. |
Be It Further Resolved That | That the food vendor chosen through the University of Texas at Arlington install or provide a separate preparation station (i.e. grills, cutting boards, utensils, etc.) with specific policies and procedures for use of vegan and /or vegetarian meal preparations only. |
