Remarks | Research from Ehren Wixson explained that it is a legal issue for the University to extend credit to a third party. Cannot be done. |
Whereas | Some students rely solely on financial aid to pay tuition, as well as for housing and books; and |
Whereas | Most financial aid has a wait period of two weeks after classes have started until it is distributed to students; and |
Whereas | Students have already started classes and may have assignments requiring the use of their textbook due before that two week wait period; and |
Whereas | Without their financial aid, students are unable to get their required supplies for class and are unable to check out books on reserve, provided the required book is even available, for extended periods of time; and |
Whereas | The inability to receive textbooks is causing students distress and preventing them from reaching their full potential here at the University of Texas at Arlington |
Be It Further Resolved That | Students on financial aid are able to get their textbooks from the UTA Bookstore by using their MavID card to charge their MyMav account. |
