Whereas | The University of Texas at Arlington's Office of Graduate Studies requires students to pay a $40 graduation fee that includes a diploma. |
Whereas | A $60 late-fee, in addition to the $40 graduation fee, is imposed on students who do not register for graduation by the 30th day after the first day of classes in the semester they wish to graduate. |
Whereas | $60 is a 150% increase of the original cost of the University's graduation fee. |
Whereas | A graduation cost of $100 is punitive in nature, and cost prohibitive to students who may not have the financial resources to cover the exorbitant price. |
Whereas | Students who cannot afford to pay $100 would be forced to extend to another semester if they wished to receive their diploma and graduate. |
Be It Further Resolved That | The Office of Graduate Studies decrease their late fee to no more than $20 added to the initial fee of $40. |
