Whereas | The UTA two bedroom apartments have both a leaseholder and an occupant; and |
Whereas | The leaseholder owns the apartments due to all charges associated with the apartment being charged to that one person's MyMav account; and |
Whereas | The occupant has no rights concerning the apartment and is thus a guest that usually have an oral agreement to pay half of all rent and utilities; and |
Whereas | It is permissible for the leaseholder to sign for and obtain 2 additional keys to the apartment unit for the purposes of having non-paying guests live in the unit without the agreement of the occupant; and |
Whereas | Everyone should have the right to know who lives in their apartment unit and to know who owns a key to the unit in which they also live and pay for. |
Be It Further Resolved That | UTA housing makes it a requirement for all those who own a key to the unit to have a written agreement with all parties that live in that unit to avoid roommate disagreements, possible safety concerns and an uncomfortable environment; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | UTA housing makes students who lease with as an occupant aware of their hands off approach with guests and that they have no rights concerning the apartment or obligations to the leaseholder. |
