Whereas | The University is diligently searching for cost control measures to curb the rising cost of education at UTA; and |
Whereas | The administration should be commended for many of these efforts; and |
Whereas | One of these measures has been to reduce the number of hours certain parking lots are lit; and |
Whereas | This is an effective cost control measure for many parking lots on campus; and |
Whereas | Some of the parking lots included in this measure are lots at or near apartments and residence halls, such as lot #33 West near Timberbrook Apartments; and |
Whereas | The lights in this lot, which Timberbrook residents are authorized to park in, are turned off at midnight, and many college students do not arrive home from long nights of studying or working until after midnight. |
Be It Further Resolved That | The lights in parking lot #33 West be returned to their previous hours of operation, from dusk to dawn; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | Any other parking lot lighting that is being turned off before dawn be investigated to ensure that it is not a parking lot being utilized by apartment or residence hall students. |
