Whereas | The University Center stays open until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, then has weekend hours; and |
Whereas | Most other buildings on campus close at 10 p.m.; and |
Whereas | Many students work evening shifts and study while burning the midnight oil; and |
Whereas | Many students desire a well-lighted and quiet place to study or work on projects; and |
Whereas | During the week of final exams the Main Library remains open until 1:30 p.m. (floors 1-5). |
Be It Further Resolved That | Only the 1st floor of the UTA Main Library remain open until 1:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday during the regular semester and maintain its regular weekend hours; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | At the present closing time of 11:45 p.m., an announcement be made that all persons move to the first floor and only the first floor remain open from 11:45 p.m. - 1:30 a.m.; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | No books or materials be checked out after the present cut-off time of 11:40 p.m.; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | This be implemented by way of an honor system in which students will remain only on the first floor with the UTA Police taking corrective action against any violating student and/or a fine being administered; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | This allows for the staff members to clean the library on floors 2-5; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | The 1:30 a.m. closing time be implemented on a 2-month trial basis. After the trial period, if Library personnel determine that the service isn't utilized, the former 11:45 p.m. closing time be put back into effect. |
