Whereas | The University of Texas at Arlington has not had an alcohol-serving venue on campus since the Dry Gulch closed in the 1990s; and |
Whereas | Many students desire an on-campus venue that could accommodate various entertainment acts and provide alcohol at a reasonable price to adults; and |
Whereas | A $600,000 alcohol-serving 'faculty lounge' will soon be in the basement of Davis Hall, leaving students without any type of 'student lounge'; and |
Whereas | A location on campus that serves alcohol would benefit the campus community by providing a safe and controlled gathering place that is within walking distance to people on campus. |
Be It Further Resolved That | The University of Texas at Arlington establishes an alcohol-serving venue for the benefit of the campus community; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | This venue shall maintain operating hours comparable to other alcohol-serving locations near campus (i.e. closing at approximately 2 a.m.). |
