Whereas | The fundamental goal of journalism should be clear, concise, accurate and objective dissemination of information to a general or specific audience; and |
Whereas | The student publication of the University of Texas at Arlington, known as The Shorthorn, whose specific audience is the body of students at said institution, should be subject to the goal of journalism; and |
Whereas | Human error inhibits the achievement of said goal, consequently promoting the communication of erroneous information; and |
Whereas | The communication of erroneous information is displeasing to the audience of students of UTA, who provide $420,347.00 of financial support toward the publication of the The Shorthorn through Student Service Fees. |
Be It Further Resolved That | The Shorthorn reserve one page in each edition of The Shorthorn exclusively for the coverage of events sponsored by student organizations; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | That the articles be co-authored by a Shorthorn staff writer and a member of the organization sponsoring the event; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | That this service be provided at no additional cost to the organization; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | That this resolution take effect immediately. |
