Whereas Student Congress committee assignments, chairs, and co-chairs are currently assigned by the President of Student Congress; and
Whereas All members of Student Congress seek to obtain leadership positions; and
Whereas A diversity of opinion is a benefit to Congress and is treasured by all students; and
Whereas Chairs and Co-chairs hold various positions that can affect the success of resolutions; and
Whereas When experienced members are overlooked for leadership positions, it causes dissatisfaction with the group as a whole; and
Whereas Inclusion of more people in the selection process will create a higher degree of objectivity.
Be It Further Resolved That Student Congress committee assignments, chairs, and co-chairs continue to be assigned by the Student Congress President and be subject to approval by the executive committee; and
Be It Further Resolved That Considerations that play a major role in the selection of chairs and co-chairs be seniority in Student Congress, outstanding past service, seniority in committee assigned, and desire for position in committee; and
Be It Further Resolved That Committee chairs' and co-chairs' selection accurately represent Student Congress and the student body as a whole; and
Be It Further Resolved That This resolution shall take effect immediately.
