Whereas | Handicapped students desperately need parking spaces as close to their classrooms as possible; and |
Whereas | There is a problem with some students who are not handicapped using a handicapped person's car or hangtag in order to take unfair advantage of a handicapped parking space to avoid the search for a spot close to their classes; and |
Whereas | There are not enough campus police to patrol each and every handicapped parking space looking for inconsistencies, causing many handicapped students to have to park long distances from their classes; and |
Whereas | Some handicapped people have been confronted by others who cannot see their handicaps regarding parking. |
Be It Further Resolved That | In order to receive the privilege of handicapped parking at the University of Texas at Arlington parking lots, state tags/placards must be supplemented with a sticker indicating registration at the Students with Disabilities Office to access these spaces; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | Additional spots be allocated to handicapped students. |
