Remarks FAILED
Whereas Handicapped students desperately need parking spaces as close to their classrooms as possible; and
Whereas There is a problem with some students who are not handicapped using a handicapped person's car or hangtag in order to take unfair advantage of a handicapped parking space to avoid the search for a spot close to their classes; and
Whereas There are not enough campus police to patrol each and every handicapped parking space looking for inconsistencies, causing many handicapped students to have to park long distances from their classes; and
Whereas Some handicapped people have been confronted by others who cannot see their handicaps regarding parking.
Be It Further Resolved That In order to receive the privilege of handicapped parking at the University of Texas at Arlington parking lots, state tags/placards must be supplemented with a sticker indicating registration at the Students with Disabilities Office to access these spaces; and
Be It Further Resolved That Additional spots be allocated to handicapped students.
