Whereas | UTA assigns PIN codes to students based on their day and year of birth; and |
Whereas | With this system it is possible for someone who knows the individual's birthday and SSN to falsify certain records within the SAM telephone system; and |
Whereas | Organizations collect SSN's for reporting both to the university and national/international headquarters; and |
Whereas | It would be possible for someone to cast votes for individuals without their knowledge or consent when the UTA Student Congress moves to an electronic/computerized election system; and |
Whereas | The use of randomized PIN codes not based on the students' day and year of birth would make it possible for the UTA Student Congress to modernize and offer electronic/computerized elections; and |
Whereas | It would be possible to assign random PIN codes to each student registering for the fall of 1998 semester and therefore allow Student Congress to offer said electronic/computerized elections. |
Be It Further Resolved That | UTA assign random PIN codes not based on day and year of birth to each student registering at UTA starting with the fall 1998 semester; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | This resolution take effect prior to the June registration for fall 1998 classes. |
