Whereas Students often do not have cash on them and are hungry, but cannot purchase food in the Plaza or at the Paradise; and
Whereas It is inconvenient for students to use their debit card or major credit card on their Mav Card, then go to the Plaza or the Paradise, and finally have that Mav card swiped for food purchases; and
Whereas It costs at least $2.50 in fees to withdraw a minimum of $20 from the campus ATM machines. This is expensive when all students want to do is make a $5 food purchase; and
Whereas If one cashier line is designated for major credit cards and debit cards this new plan would not inconvenience those paying with cash; and
Whereas The UC General Store accepts major credit cards, debit cards, and Mav Cards for purchases made by students, faculay, and staff; and
Whereas Most restaurants accept major credit cards and debit cards for purchases, and there would be minimal to no cost for ARAMARK to set up one machine in both the Plaza and the Paradise
Be It Further Resolved That The Plaza and the Paradise begin accepting major credit cards and debit cards in one of their lines for food purchases; and
Be It Further Resolved That This resolution takes effect immediately after passage.
