Whereas | The five days surrounding Thanksgiving, beginning with Wednesday and ending with Sunday, are statistically the most traveled days of the year (Bureau of Transportation Statistics, U.S. D.O.T); and |
Whereas | Many Students travel out of town for Thanksgiving; and |
Whereas | The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is often the day that these students must travel to their holiday destination; and |
Whereas | Not all professors issue 'walks' to their classes on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving; and |
Whereas | Many students' travel plans are subsequently compromised by having to attend classes on the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving, or they are focused to miss valuable class time in order to fulfill their travel plans. |
Be It Further Resolved That | The University designate the Wednesday immediately prior to Thanksgiving as a part of Thanksgiving break, thus affording all students a reprieve from classes and adequate time to travel or prepare for their Thanksgiving holiday. |
