Whereas | A high drop rate for a particular course or instructor may indicate recurrent scheduling problems or other issues; and |
Whereas | It might also indicate issues with the quality of instruction or the catalog description of the course; and |
Whereas | The current course evaluation system fails to survey up to 60% of the students who paid some, if not all, of the cost of the course - namely, those who drop the course. |
Be It Further Resolved That | When a student drops a course they are given an anonymous, optional evaluation to complete concerning the course, their experiences up until the point they dropped, and why they dropped; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | These evaluations be treated similarly to the current course evaluations which the students complete at the end of the semester; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | These evaluations also ask the student how many sessions they attended of the class and record the date on which the student dropped. |
