Whereas | Many Areas on campus, especially near the College of Engineering and the Central Library are becoming increasingly saturated with wireless networks; and |
Whereas | These networks are a huge asset to both students and professors; and |
Whereas | The availability of these networks are also a great way to sway technology-minded potential students; and |
Whereas | More professors, labs and other groups are setting up their own private wireless networks; and |
Whereas | These networks often cause problems and conflicts with the public wireless networks the University has setup. |
Be It Further Resolved That | The University give a group, such as Engineering Network Services or the Office of Information Technology, the Authority to regulate the wireless networks on campus by establishing naming standards, etc; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | This group be given the authority to designate channel numbers, id's, etc to the public wireless networks and distribute the remaining channels to private networks that apply for them; and |
Be It Further Resolved That | In areas that public wireless networks are available, this group post signs informing students and faculty of the availability of the network and the information necessary to connect to the network. |
