Mavericks on Tour

The first-ever UTA Athletics Roadshow took place across Texas during the final week of August. From Aug. 26‑29, Director of Athletics Jon Fagg, select head coaches, and members of UTA Athletics embarked on a statewide journey, visiting Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Waco. The journey allowed UTA alumni and local communities to connect with the Maverick spirit like never before.

“The opportunity to get UTA Athletics out into the communities where so many of our alumni are is very important,” says Fagg. “These events provide excellent ways to energize a fan base.”

Attendees enjoyed exclusive access to UTA Athletics and campus staff, gaining insight into the department’s vision for the 2024‑25 season. The event featured talks from prominent head coaches, including KT Turner and Shereka Wright, who shared exciting previews of the men’s and women’s basketball seasons.

“This is a huge year for UTA Athletics,” says Ira Childress, senior associate athletic director for development. “It was great to kick it off by connecting with our constituents around the great state of Texas!”

The roadshow offered food, drinks, and prize giveaways at each stop, leaving attendees buzzing with anticipation for the new athletic year and strengthening the bond between UTA and its widespread community.
