Jeff Garnett (’09 MArch, ’07 BS, Architecture), owner of an eponymously named architecture studio, has won the 2023 American Institute of Architects’ Fort Worth Design Award for his project at 110 Walnut Street in Glen Rose, Texas.

The finished studio is a light-filled space where glass walls and custom steel fixtures frame views that take the eye far beyond the 1,000-square foot-floor plan in a narrow infill lot on Glen Rose’s historic town square.

Garnett’s architectural journey, rooted in a childhood fascination with old barns, stone ruins, and the Texas landscape, has evolved into a practice that spans ranch houses, lake homes, and remote retreats, as well as urban properties and other installations.

“I design places for people and strive to make each place a haven from the demands of today’s society, a sacred place for our clients to call home with a strong connection to the natural environment,” Garnett says.

Jeff Garnett Architect has been recognized with AIA Fort Worth Studio Awards in 2019 and 2022, and with Texas Society of Architects Studio Awards in 2022 and 2023. Before forming his studio, Garnett worked on many residential and commercial projects with architecture firms in Austin, Texas. Most recently, he was profiled in Red + Rio magazine.
