Once again, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has recognized The University of Texas at Arlington for how well it improves both students’ chances for graduating and their future earnings.

The publication ranked UTA as the top school in North Texas and No. 6 in the state on its 2025 Best Colleges in the U.S. list.

The Journal also ranked UTA No. 1 in North Texas and No. 4 in the state in the Best Salaries category, which ranks schools on their impact on graduates’ salaries and how it relates to the cost of attending. A significant factor in this ranking is salary impact, or the extent to which a school boosts its graduates’ salaries beyond what they would be expected to earn, regardless of the school they attend.

“UTA prides itself on making a difference in students’ lives, both during and after the journey to their degree. This significant national ranking is a testament to the hard work our faculty and staff put in to ensure every Maverick succeeds on their chosen path,” said UTA President Jennifer Cowley.

To determine overall rankings, WSJ factored in a wide variety of categories to capture the student experience. This includes graduation rates, quality of learning facilities and opportunities, career prep and salary impact.

UTA’s latest national accolades do not stop there. Further recognition of the University’s ability to prepare students for successful lives after graduation comes from Washington Monthly, which ranked UTA No. 1 in DFW in its 2024 National Best College Rankings. This marks the third straight year UTA was named to the top of the list. The University also ranked No. 2 in the Metroplex for social mobility, research and community service.

Washington Monthly focuses its rankings on a university’s contribution to the public good in three categories: social mobility, research and providing opportunities for public service.
