Greetings,
Much has happened since my last message, and UTA has a lot to celebrate. On Sept. 30, I was formally inaugurated as president of The University of Texas at Arlington. My investiture ceremony was a profoundly humbling and exciting moment, and I am optimistic about this new chapter for UTA. In my remarks, I shared the big dreams I hold for UTA, and how it will take all of us in partnership to accomplish them, as we set our sights on becoming one of the most inclusive and impactful research universities in this country.
At my investiture, I also had the great honor of announcing that UTA has earned the Seal of Excelencia for 2022. This noteworthy distinction signifies the measurable impact we are having in changing the face of higher education and creating an environment where Latino and Latina students thrive. At UTA, we strive to develop and advance the talents of students from all backgrounds, and this recognition highlights our ongoing efforts.
UTA also continues to make progress on expanding access and opening doors to higher education for students, as we announced this fall that we have enrolled our largest first-year class ever. This marks six years in a row that we have continued to admit more exceptional students to our campus.
Our students join UTA because they recognize the unique opportunities available to them and the leadership and expertise provided by our renowned faculty. Faculty and researchers who continue to make groundbreaking discoveries—from marine biology to physics to engineering, and much more—as well as consistently prepare our students to enter a competitive workforce.
I am proud of their many achievements and invite you to read more about their recent work below. Thank you for your support of our University and your commitment to our success.
Sincerely,
|
Jennifer Cowley, Ph.D.
