Greetings,

This has been another impactful year for The University of Texas at Arlington as we continue to meet the needs of our great state.

We welcomed the largest freshman class in UTA history; saw increases in student success metrics such as degree attainment and rising first-year retention and four-year graduation rates; climbed in national and international rankings; enhanced economic development through new startups and our collaborations with the corporate sector; and celebrated many other accomplishments. We awarded a record 13,727 degrees in areas of high need, adding to the workforce and intellectual vitality of Texas. A growing number of UTA alumni are adding their skills and intellectual power to advance the socioeconomic vitality of the DFW metroplex, the state, and beyond.

For the first time in our history, total research expenditures exceeded $100 million during the 2017-18 academic year – and more importantly, our research continues to create new knowledge and focuses on addressing the critical needs of our metroplex, region, and state. The hard work of our students, faculty, and staff positions us to present bold solutions for the most important challenges of the 21st century.

We look forward to a tremendous new year that builds on our momentum of increasing student success, delivering a new standard of excellence in higher education, and being strong partners in the advancement of the communities we serve.

Thank you for your continued support, and happy holidays!
