The Investiture of President Jennifer Cowley

Cowley formally inaugurated Friday

Join fellow Mavericks for the formal inauguration of UTA's 10th president, Jennifer Cowley, at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at College Park Center. An RSVP is appreciated but not required.

A festival reception on Spaniolo Drive will immediately follow the event.

For quicker entry to the event, come without a purse or bag, or bring one that’s compliant with College Park Center’s clear bag policy. All bags not in compliance with the policy will be inspected upon entry.

Fresh Check Day

Make it to a mental health check-in at Fresh Check Day 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, on the Library mall. The event features interactive booths focused on emotional and mental health awareness, free food, prizes, and more.

BS in applied sociology

UT Arlington now offers a Bachelor of Science in applied sociology as a new degree option in the College of Liberal Arts.

Volunteer opportunities event

The Volunteer Opportunity Exchange is a come-and-go event that allows the UTA community to network with area nonprofit agencies to find ongoing or short-term service learning or volunteer opportunities. The event is 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30.

National Night Out

The UTA Police Department will host National Night Out 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Brazos Park. The event includes free food, prizes, activities, and demonstrations related to public safety. Bring canned food donations for the Maverick Pantry and receive an extra ticket for prize drawings.

Oozeball: down and dirty

More than 400 muddy students and hundreds more spectators gathered on the west side of campus to play in or watch Oozeball, UTA’s sloppiest, muddiest tradition on Friday.

File for campus elections

Put your name on the ballot for the fall campus elections by Thursday, Oct. 6. Open positions are Homecoming king and queen, Student Senate, UTA Ambassadors and the Student Service Fee Allocation Committee members.

DEI Conference

"A Day In Your Shoes" is the topic of UTA's first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Conference 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4. The event challenges guests to view things from the perspective of a different identity. Lunch provided; RSVP required.

Got a startup idea?

All you need is a startup idea, no matter how small, or a prototype, no matter how rough, to apply for the Blackstone Ideas Competition and a chance to win $1,000. Apply by Saturday, Oct. 1.

Architecture exhibit

Celebrate the best in architectural delineation for more than 45 years at an exhibit for the Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation Competition through Friday, Oct. 14, at the Max W. Sullivan Gallery in the CAPPA building.
