Grandmother of Juneteenth

Opal Lee, the Grandmother of Juneteenth and nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, will speak on the National Juneteenth Museum coming to Fort Worth 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, in the Fine Arts Building. The event will be livestreamed.

Richard "Cheech" Marin, an actor and preeminent Chicano art advocate, will discuss his private collection 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, in the Rosebud Theatre of the University Center. Email monica.lopez@uta.edu for an in-person reservation or the livestream link.

Campus election results

UTA celebrates its student employees this week with an event to name the Student Employee of the Year Wednesday, April 13, at Brazos Park.

Science Week

The College of Science will present Science Week, Monday-Friday, April 18-24. The special events highlight the expertise and achievements of the college’s faculty, students, and alumni and includes live podcast recordings, panel discussions, workshops, and planetarium shows.

Block Party

The annual Block Party will host live music, carnival-style treats, games, and activities galore 7-10 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Brazos Park. Food and drinks are for UTA on-campus residents. Light refreshments for everyone.

Electronic waste recycling

Bring your batteries, old electronics, toner cartridges, and other electronic waste to the e-waste recycling drive 2-4 p.m. Thursday, April 14, on the west side of the UC mall.

Lavender Graduation

Library mural competition

The deadline for the UTA Libraries' mural competition is Thursday, April 21. The winning work be displayed in the Central Library. The winning artist will receive a $250 UTA Bookstore credit.

Read at Homerathon

The Department of Philosophy and Humanities and the University Classics Club sponsors the long-running UTA tradition of the Homerathon, a day-long reading of Homer's Odyssey 7 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28, on the University Center mall. Volunteer to read.

Student engagement survey

First-year students and seniors who complete the National Survey of Student Engagement before Sunday, May 15, will be eligible to enter a drawing for one of 20 $100 Amazon gift cards. Eligible students can access the survey through Canvas.

Undergrad Exit Survey

Students graduating in May 2022 should complete the Undergraduate Exit Survey, available through Canvas. Responses are confidential. Eligible students will receive invites from gradteam@uta.edu.
