All students who come to any UTA campus in any capacity, regardless of vaccination status, must submit the required COVID‑19 test by Wednesday, Sept. 8. See the free on-campus testing options; results are automatically reported. Upload your off-campus test results to the COVID‑19 Health Portal in MyMav.

The next free, walk-in-only, on-campus COVID‑19 vaccination clinic is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, in the exercise rooms of the Maverick Activities Center. Find a vaccine clinic.

Upload proof of vaccination to the COVID‑19 Health Portal in MyMav by Monday, Oct. 4, to be eligible for prizes in the Maverick Motivator Program.

MavPitch Competition winners

Jacqueline Gomez and Julio Sanchez of Hashira Studios won the annual MavPitch competition. Six firms founded by students won $85,000 at the 2021 MavPitch Business Competition grand finale. Hashira Studios features unique anime-inspired designs in clothing.

First-generation students

More than 50 first-generation students and alumni attended a brunch and mixer as part of the Maverick Stampede event series that welcomes students to campus for the fall semester. The Transition Programs and Services Department hosted the event on Tuesday.

Maverick Cookout, Activity Fair

Have a burger and learn about student organizations, departments, community agencies, and involvement opportunities at the Maverick Cookout and Activity Fair Day at 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Brazos Park and the University Center mall.

UTA Libraries' Ren Faire

At the UTA Libraries' Ren Fair, you can explore the tech tent with games galore and photo op opportunities, contribute to our community mural, come to a cooking demo and eat like royalty, play games, and trade in tickets for awesome prizes. The first 200 students receive a welcome gift.

MavMentors Training

Learn how to join UTA's mentor program, MavMentors, and connect with UTA alumni and industry leaders to help guide your career journey. The virtual session is at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2.

Welcome back, Mavericks

Students enjoyed the rewards of being a Maverick this week with such events as Waffleopolis, the MavsMeet Convocation and afterparty, and some late-night volleyball on campus. It's all part of the Maverick Stampede, an ongoing celebration of the return to campus.

See which on-campus dining spots are open when through Wednesday, Sept. 8. Some new names—The Halal Shack, Kalachandji's, Tea Co.—join the old-time favorites, like Chick-fil-A and Subway.

Financial help for students

UTA is providing financial assistance to eligible students facing additional expenses due to COVID-19 through the federal Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). Students can apply for HEERF grants for the fall semester.

IRB Mini Conference

Faculty, staff, and students who conduct human-subject research or would like to know more about the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process are invited to the virtual IRB Mini Conference 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Aug. 31. Register to attend.

  • Aug. 27-30—Late registration for fall regular semester.
  • Aug. 30—Census date for first five-week term.
  • Sept. 1—Census date for first eight-week term.
  • Sept. 6—Labor Day holiday; UTA closed, no classes.
  • Sept. 10—Census date for fall semester.
