With spring break approaching, The University of Texas at Arlington is encouraging its community members to reconsider any nonessential travel to South Korea due to the widespread, ongoing outbreak of coronavirus in that country.
The University’s request is in accordance with current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which this week issued a Level 3 warning that travelers avoid all nonessential trips to South Korea.
UTA’s top priority is to protect the health and safety of students, faculty, staff and visitors. The university has been proactive in taking necessary actions, including outreach to students, faculty, and staff possibly affected by this evolving situation.
The university will continue to closely monitor the latest guidance and follow the recommendations of the UT System, CDC, and U.S. Department of State.
We always recommend our community members follow CDC and public health guidelines, which are similar to what is recommended during flu and cold season, including:
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve when coughing or sneezing.
- Wash your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Avoid contact with others who are sick.
- Seek medical attention if you are sick. Students may schedule an appointment with or visit Health Services.
Primary care visits and flu shots are FREE to registered students at Health Services. Make appointments by calling 817-272-2771 or online at Health Services appointments.
