On Monday, July 31, UTA will conduct a large, multi-agency emergency preparedness exercise designed to test our campus-wide plans to respond quickly to any action that poses a threat to the campus and our students, employees, business partners, and visitors.
The exercise will last from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, July 31, and will include the UTA Police Department, Arlington Police Department, Fire Department, emergency personnel, and other affiliated agencies with which UTA works closely to manage public safety.
TRAFFIC and PARKING: Spaniolo Drive on the UTA campus will be closed to traffic from 6 a.m. Sunday, July 30, to 6 p.m. Monday, July 31. The UTA South and Central parking garages on Center Street will be closed to all parking except for authorized and credentialed personnel participating in the exercise.
Students, staff, and visitors should use the North parking garage on this day.
Neighbors and the surrounding community should expect to see a high level of police, fire, safety vehicles, and personnel in the area surrounding the College Park Center, Arlington Hall, and adjacent buildings on the east side of the campus all day Monday. The exercise should conclude at 5 p.m.
EMERGENCY TEST MESSAGING: Test MavAlert texts, emails, and other digital messaging will be sent throughout the day as part of the emergency exercise only.
FOR A REAL EMERGENCY ON JULY 31: Should you experience a true emergency on this day, please call 2-3003 or dial 911 for assistance.
Any concerns or questions may be directed to policedepartment@uta.edu.
As a University, we thank you for your understanding and accommodation as we strive to provide the highest level of safety and preparedness for all who visit the UTA campus and surrounding areas.
